Webmoms is the brainchild of UK-based multi-instrumentalist, producer and songwriter Karum Cooper. It’s a project rich in influences across the musical spectrum with several millions of streams across Spotify and Apple Music alone, a slew of BBC Introducing, R6, R1 and R1Xtra plays and production credits on tracks around the globe, to boot.
Starting out as an instrumental beatmaking alias in 2020, this bedroom project has grown from strength to strength- with 2024’s EP ‘For Us By Us’ marking the first fully vocal release. Whilst all previous EPs have been smattered with an even share of instrumental beats and vocal tracks. This EP, with its nuanced and original take on Lofi-Hip Hop, RnB and Neo soul, delves further into the realms of conscious, politically driven poetry and lyricism, straying away from a beat-centric production style and incorporating some seriously strong vocal hooks and a peppering of artist features.
“Sprawling passages of jazz-infused indie tumble into soulful spoken word stints with a breezy elegance. It’s an experimental sound that manages to keep a slickness and shape.”
“A smouldering, sultry offering that weaves together threads of jazz, neo-soul, R&B and hip-hop.”
“Matching his skills as a guitarist with lo-fi drums and beautiful jazz motifs, his debut EP Ruchikar is a window into his far-reaching musical talents and the influences that have paved the way until now.”
"Hey all. Thanks for making it to my website. Somehow you've stumbled here and I thank you for making it this far!
My name is Karum, I'm a musician/producer based in Cornwall, South West UK. I make instrumental, jazz infused hip hop and neo soul beats under the moniker 'Webmoms'
Recently, my artistic journey has taken an exciting turn as I delve further into the realms of poetry and lyricism. These spoken word expressions have become the cornerstone of a fresh and eponymous project, slated to emerge in 2024. In this endeavor, my spoken word musings and babbling vocals weave into the fabric of Webmoms beats, creating a unique fusion of sound and soul.
I also share my creations with the world through live performances with the 'Webmoms Live Ensemble.' An eight-piece band reimagining the existing Webmoms & Karum Cooper catalog with a organic jazz-fusion twist. We've also begun writing as a collective live outfit - with a debut EP on the horizon for 2024. This adds a whole new element to the wider Webmoms sonic experience.
Join me on this musical and poetic journey, where beats, words, and melodies converge. Stay tuned for the unveiling of this artistic venture."
Starting out out in the world of alt-rock and progressive metal, Spring 2020, Karum kickstarted his solo journey with collaborations with LoFi Hip Hop giant ‘Delayde‘ - their track Sundew’ surpassed 4 million streams to date. The project known as ‘Webmoms’ as a solo entity was officially launched in that year with debut ‘Ruchikar’ EP.
Karum’s nuanced and original take on Lo-Fi Hip Hop, RnB and Soul received critical support from the likes of Complex UK, Stamp The Wax, Earmilk, Colors and Magnetic Magazine. The project has been given substantial Radio Play across various BBC introducing networks as well as BBC Radio 1, 1 XTRA, BBC Radio 6. Across Spotify, Webmoms has been supported on a slew of Editorial Spotify playlists from (The Best of Fresh Finds, Fresh Finds ‘The Wave’, to Jazzy Beats, Jazz Vibes, Lofi Cafe, Lofi & Chill, Lush Beats and so many more) as well as equal support from the likes of Apple Music (Brown Sugar, Grown N Sexy, Beatstrumentals and more).
Webmoms made its live debut in 2021 with an eight-piece live band reimagining the existing Webmoms catalog with flavours of jazz fusion, neo-soul, hip hop and afro-inspired rhythms coming together to merge jazz traditions with contemporary soundscapes.. Having also begun writing as a collective live outfit, the first release 'Salsa Verde' dropped in April 2025.
